Palaeontologia Africana is the official journal of the Evolutionary Studies Institute, University of Witwatersrand. Palaeontologia Africana is a long-standing journal devoted to publishing scientifically significant palaeontological works with a focus on southern Africa. The journal was established in 1953 by the Board of the Bernhard Price Institute for Palaeontological Research, which included such esteemed people as Dr. Bernard Price, Professor Raymond Dart, Dr. Robert Broom and Dr. Sidney Haughton. The publication arose as a necessity because of the Institute’s rapidly growing collection of fossil material. Since its inception, Palaeontologia Africana has expanded to welcome any works that further the science of palaeontology, palaeoanthropology and palaeobotany. It is with the mandate of the founding members that the current editorial board of Palaeontologia Africana continues to only accept and publish scientific works of a high standard for the benefit of the scientific and public communities.
